Josh is a guitarist based in Vancouver, BC. He has performed across North America, in Europe, and the Caribbean.
Originally from Chilliwack, BC, Josh picked up the guitar shortly before his twelfth birthday and began performing professionally in high school. He is a graduate of Capilano University’s jazz program, where he studied guitar under Ihor Kukurudza, Ron Samworth and Bill Coon.
His musical projects have focused on vintage jazz from the twenties to the forties, diverging occasionally into rock, R&B and blues. He has travelled to jazz festivals and swing dances across North America and in Europe as a member of various bands including Simon Stribling’s New Orleans Ale Stars and Hoppin’ Mad, The 51st Eight (Big Bang Jazz Band), and the Evergreen Classic Jazz Band.
He leads and arranges music for his own bands playing jazz music in the style of the swing era (Slipped Disc, Josh Roberts Orchestra, the Fourth Avenue Five), while remaining busy as a sideman and private guitar instructor.
